New government officials sworn in after mini-reshuffle
Six new members of the cabinet were sworn in at the Presidential Mansion on Thursday after a mini-reshuffle that was prompted by the resignation of two ministers earlier this week.
Ioannis Dragasakis, formerly the deputy prime minister, was sworn in as economy minister, taking over from Dimitris Papadimitriou, who resigned on Tuesday.
Journalist Vaxevanis arrested following defamation action by Samaras
The journalist Costas Vaxevanis was arrested on Monday following a legal suit lodged against him by former conservative prime minister Antonis Samaras for defamation.
Vaxevanis had been at the Athens appeals court for the hearing of another legal suit against him brought by Lina Nikolopoulou, the wife of Bank of Greece Governor Yannis Stournaras.
Fiery exchanges in House before vote on Novartis bribery probe
Greek MPs were poised to vote in the early hours of Thursday morning to vote on whether 10 Greek politicians alleged to have accepted bribes from Swiss drugs manufacturer Novartis should face investigation by a House committee.
The voting followed several hours of vehement debate involving the politicians named in the contentious prosecutors' report as well as party leaders.
DiEM25 starts crowdfunding campaign ahead of Greek party launch

Dragasakis: Undertaxation, private sector to blame for the crisis
Deputy Prime Minister Yiannis Dragasakis has responded to accusations leveled against the government about overtaxing the Greeks, claiming that Greece defaulted because of undertaxation in previous years, while also placing the biggest part of the blame for the crisis on the private sector.
Greek academic in London slammed over racist rant against basketball star
A Greek professor, reportedly employed at University College London, caused a Greek social media outcry on Tuesday after describing National Basketball Association (NBA) sensation Giannis Antetokounmpo as "a black guy pretending to be Greek."
Evangelos Markopoulos made his comment in a post below a video showing Antetokounmpo - a Greek national - singing the Greek national anthem.
