Old sea mine found in Bosphorus destroyed

An exploded sea mine caught in fishermen's net in the Bosphorus has been detonated by the efforts of the military.

"A sea mine, which was caught in the net of a fishing boat and taken to a deck in the Bosphorus, was examined by an Underwater Defense [SAS] team and destroyed at the SAS Command/Riva destruction training area," the Defense Ministry said on Twitter.

Istanbul’s Bridges illuminated in green

As part of the "Green Crescent Week," the Fatih Sultan Mehmet and Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridges, two of Istanbul's major ones, were lighted green, the symbol color of the Turkish Green Crescent Society.

Turkey earns some $32 mln in public bridge, highway tolls in January

Turkey earned over 189.5 million liras (some $32 million) in tolls in January, official figures revealed on Feb. 25.

The July 15 Martyrs' Bridge and the Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge in Istanbul, connecting Europe and Asia over the Bosphorus, yielded over 39 million Turkish liras ($6.6 million) last month, according to the General Directorate of Highways.
