Two Yazidi women receive EU Zacharov Award
Two Yazidi women who survived sexual enslavement by Islamic State before escaping and becoming advocates for their people in Iraq have won the EU’s Sakharov human rights prize.
Nadia Murad and Lamiya Aji Bashar were abducted along with other Yazidi women in August 2014 when their home village of Kocho in northern Iraq was attacked by Isis jihadis.

Yazidi Activist Wins Vaclav Havel Award
The Vaclav Havel Human Rights Prize - which honours outstanding civil society action in defence of human rights - was awarded on Monday to Nadia Murad, a Yazidi rights activist who was kidnapped and detained by Islamic State, ISIS, in Iraq in 2014.

Famous human rights lawyer and wife of Hollywood star George Clooney, Amal Alamuddin Clooney is reportedly visiting a refuge hotspot in the northern Greek city of Serres.
