UK, EU reach outline Brexit deal; still needs ratification
Britain and the European Union said on Oct. 17 that they have struck an outline Brexit deal after days of intense see-saw negotiations - though it must still be formally approved by the bloc and ratified by the European and U.K. Parliaments.

British and European Union officials resumed talks to clinch a Brexit deal on Oct. 15 just a few hours after late-night negotiations wound up, but it was far from clear they would reach an agreement before a leaders' summit on Oct. 16.

The spokesman also said that Britain would keep reaching out to its counterparts in the European Union in search of an exit deal, and that the government hoped the bloc changed its position on the so-called Irish backstop, Reuters reports.

Boris Johnson: We Will Leave the EU on October 31
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson said today that Britain would leave the European Union at any cost on October 31, Reuters and TASS reported, quoted by BTA.
"The Prime Minister has made it clear that the UK will in any case leave the EU on October 31st," Johnson's office said.

Johnson sets up 'war cabinet', posing conditions to EU
He specified that if this is not the case, UK will exit EU without an agreement, Johnson's spokesperson stated.
"Prime Minister is willing to sit down and negotiate, as soon as their position changes", his spokesperson said, Reuters reports.
