53 restaurants enter Michelin’s first Istanbul guide

A total of 53 restaurants have spotlighted in the selection of the Michelin's first Istanbul Guide, with Fatih Tutak's "Turk" the only place to receive two stars for its "exceptional cuisine."

Located in the Şişli district on the European side, Turk "offers a modern and sophisticated stage for gourmets looking for typically Turkish flavors," the guide said.

Massive forest fire engulfs Mediterranean district

A massive fire erupted in two different locations in the southern province of Antalya's Manavgat district has destroyed dozens of hectares of forest cover and caused the evacuation of five settlements.

The cause of the fires in the Yeniköy and Side neighborhoods of the district is still unknown.

Transport ship stranded next to waterfront mansions in Istanbul's Bosphorus

A transport ship has been stranded off Istanbul's Yeniköy district on the Bosphorus Strait early on Dec. 21, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

The Panama-flagged ship Star Harmony was stranded after its north-south passage on the strait, while its helm was locked, according to the Directorate General of Coastal Safety officials.

Prince Edward expresses sympathies over Ankara attack during Istanbul visit

Prince Edward, 51, has expressed his deepest sympathies for the Turkish people following the deadly terror attacks at a peace rally in the capital Ankara, which killed at least 99 people and wounded more than 200. 

"These [events] are [a] reminder of why we must all stick together," Prince Edward said during his visit to the Tarabya British School in Istanbul on Oct. 15.

Manufacturing activities resume in two car companies, halt in another amid labor protests

Turkey's Ford Otosan and Tofa? have said manufacturing operations resumed at their plants in northwest Turkey beginning on the night shift of May 21 and on May 22, respectively, while another automotive company specializing in tractor manufacturing said its production activities would be halted in two cities because of an ongoing labor dispute.
