Greek electronic music pioneer Konstantinos Bhta will recite poems by the late poet Yannis Ritsos on the alternative stage of the Greek National Opera, as he shares his musical compositions with the public. Bhta performs a musical interpretation of Ritsos' poems and establishes a dialogue between the sounds and the words read, pushing the barriers of communication to another level.

The Jive Aces | Epirus | August 9

UK swing band the Jive Aces will be performing at the Municipal Gardens in Preveza on Friday, August 9. After going viral on YouTube with their recording of "Bring Me Sunshine," the six-member outfit launched into mainstream culture. They have released 11 albums and were semifinalists in Britain's Got Talent in 2012.

Karabeti & Mitsias | Athens | January 12-19

Two respected local talents, actress/singer Kariofyllia Karabeti and vocalist Manolis Mitsias, join forces at the Parnassos Literary Society for a series of concerts of emblematic Greek poetry that has been set to music, including poems by Sappho, Dionysis Solomos, Giorgos Seferis, Odysseas Elytis and Yiannis Ritsos. Performances start at 9.30 p.m. and admission costs 10-30 euros.

Ritsos's 'Epitaphios' | Athens | April 4

Acclaimed veteran vocalist Maria Farantouri performs Mikis Theodorakis's melodized version of the emblematic requiem "Epitaphios" by poetry laureate Yiannis Ritsos, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) on Wednesday, April 4, starting at 8.30 p.m. She is joined by bass Tasos Apostolou, pianist Achilleas Wastor, bouzouki player Iraklis Zakkas and cellist Alexandros Botinis.

Seven Artists | Athens | June 2-30

Seven talented artists express their reflections and emotions in experiential artworks that are going on display at the Chryssothemis Gallery in the northern Athens suburb of Halandri. The gallery was launched in spring of 1979 under the direction of Zoi Psarrou. Its name is taken from a poem by Giannis Ritsos.
