Citizens and institutions have laid wreaths and flowers at the Memorial Tomb of Alexander I of Battenberg on this 6 September to mark the 134th anniversary of the reunification of Bulgaria, FOCUS News Agency reports.
Wreaths were laid by hundreds of citizens, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Sofia mayoral candidate Maya Manolova and MPs.
There are four candidates for mayor of Sofia who have so far said they will fight for the post.
For current mayor Yordanka Fandakova, this will be a battle for a fourth term. As she entered this race, she said that Sofia's development was a cause for her and "long-distance running", in which maintaining the pace was important.
In 2020, Sofia will host over 200 sports events as part of its European Capital of Sport campaign. The Prime Minister and GERB leader Boyko Borissov signed a pre-election agreement for general participation in the local elections with the Union of Democratic Forces. This happened at the GERB headquarters at an event for which no media was invited. The signing of the agreement took place in the presence of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova.
