Bulgaria's PM Nominates Parliament Speaker for President

Bulgarian Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva will be the main ruling party's candidate in the presidential elections, Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has said.

Vice Admiral Plamen Manushev will be the GERB's candidate for Vice President.

Tsacheva, the first female Parliament Speaker of Bulgaria, will also become the first female President if elected.

99% Probability of GERB Nominating Fandakova, Tsacheva, Nikolov or Donchev

The probability of GERB nominating for president the chairman of Parliament Tsetska Tsacheva, the mayors of Sofia and Burgas - Yordanka Fandakova and Dimitar Nikolov, and Vice Premier Tomislav Donchev is 99%, said on bTV the chairman of the pre-election headquarters of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov.

Bulgaria's PM 'Not Commenting' Reports of Parliament Speaker's Presidential Nomination

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has said he is "not commenting" on information that Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva is the nomination of his GERB party for the presidential elections.

Earlier, the names of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova, Deputy PM Tomislav Donchev, Burgas Mayor Dimitar Nikolov, and Tsacheva herself have been repeatedly mentioned as possible nominees.

Over BGN 20 M Invested in Sofia Schools, Kindergartens in 2016

Over BGN 20 M have been invested in 2016 for repairs and construction of schools and kindergartens in Sofia, stated Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova.

A total of 51 schools and kindergartens are being fully repaired, while the construction of 3 more will begin by the end of the year. The main investments of Sofia Municipality are related to increasing energy efficiency, added Fandakova.

Last Section of Sofia Ring Road's Western Arc to Be Officialy Launched

The Western arc of the Sofia Road will be complete as of Tuesday, with a 2 km stretch that was in construction to be unveiled and opened for use.

The 5.5 km stretch begins from the bridge over the Kakach river to the crossroads of the Western arc with the Northern Speed Tangent.

Sofia to Host Charity Run in Support of Tolerance

The traditional Tole-Run is to take place in Bulgaria's capital Sofia on Sunday, September 18, at 09:00 local time.

This year, the event has grown into a festival that will be kicked off by Israeli musician Idan Raichel.

The run and his multicultural concert on September 17 will promote sports and music as the two purest expressions of tolerance.

Sofia Residents to Protest against Construction Projects in Borisova Garden

A protest is to be held in Bulgaria's capital Sofia on Sunday amid reports of a project to cut down part of the trees and begin construction works in a key city park.

Sofia residents are to begin their deminstration at Ariana Lake, located at the entrance of Borisova garde, at 11:30 local time.
