Sofia Secures Funding for Twelve New Metro Stations on Planned Third Line

The Bulgarian capital has secured funding for the construction of twelve new stations on the projected third line of the underground.

This was announced by the director of the municipal company Metropolitan Stoyan Bratoev, who together with the mayor of Sofia Yordanka Fandakova inspected the construction of the Vitosha station in the Hladilnika neighbourhood on Thursday.

Sofia Pride to Take Place Saturday

The Soviet Army monument in downtown Sofia, near Orlov Most, is where the rally will begin at 18:00 local time (EEST), but people are invited to gather an hour earlier.

Subway Extension to Business Park Sofia Opens

Subway to the Sofia Business Park in Mladost 4 has been launched today.

The new segment of the underground network is 3-kilometer long with three new stops - Aleksandar Malinov, Akad. Aleksandar Teodorov- Balan and Business Park.

The total cost of the project amounts to EUR 44 M or a little less than EUR 15 M per kilometer.

Sofia Airport Now Just 18 Minutes from Downtown Area

It is now taking only 18 minutes with the new subway section in Bulgaria's capital Sofia to move between the city center and the airport.

The new leg leading to Sofia Airport was officially launched Thursday, with the first train departing at 13:00 EEST (11:00 GMT).

The distance has been measured by subway officials from the Serdika station in the center.

Sofia Airport to Become Accessible by Underground from April 2

Yordanka Fandakova, the mayor of Bulgaria's capital, announced on Saturday that Sofia Airport will be accessible by underground from April 2.

Thus the underground will cover the distance between the airport and the central bus and railway stations in 15-20 minutes, the mayor said in an interview for private bTV station.
