On Wednesday Krivokapic said the former government didn't try enough to solve the dispute, and there were no significant problems on the field.

Both then and now, Tudjman and Plenkovic, the 20th century nationalist and the moderate conservative, suffered from the same ailment - selective, deliberate amnesia.

Neither of them can remember - or bear to remember - Yugoslavia.

Was Croatia merely a 'prisoner in Yugoslavia' or was this a time when the former Yugoslav republic developed economically, socially and culturally?

It was 1989 when theatre director and playwright Enver Petrovci locked himself in his apartment in Belgrade and started putting ink on paper for a play that would then go on to gather dust for many years to come.

According to Sputnik, the United States is facing a crisis of that kind for the first time, so the fate of their society is uncertain. It is only certain that it will largely depend on the new internal force of that country - "trampism", the portal Kosovo online reported.

As part of Yugoslavia, Montenegro took part directly in the wars in Croatia and Bosnia under the leadership of Slobodan Milosevic.

"This intelligent polemicist and forecaster is already a little tired of politics, he says. He would like to do it on a voluntary basis. But he cannot escape, he knows, right now from that hot cauldron."

So wrote journalist Manojlo Vukotic back in 1989 about a then fresh face on the scene of Montenegro politics.

Famous for his critical role during the breakup of the former Yugoslavia, 63-year-old Bogic Bogicevic faces huge challenges as he returns from political retirement to take up the important position of Mayor of Bosnia's capital, Sarajevo.

Bogicevic is expected to be formally elected to the position within the next month or so, as soon as the local election results are validated.

Kocijančič, who was also active in politics and business, was the president of the OKS between 1991 and 2014, and headed the European Olympic Committees since 2017.

Born in 1941, he graduated in law in 1965 and earned a master's and a doctoral degree in the same field, while he also entered politics at a young age, presiding the League of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia in 1968-1971.

Josip Broz Tito, as President of Yugoslavia, first of all, built his reputation with the people of Yugoslavia. For years, a cult of leader was developed, so the marshal's photographs hung above school boards, but also in the homes of many Yugoslavs - from Vardar to Triglav. He remained remembered for his turbulent political and private life.
