Loggerhead sea turtles, also known as Caretta caretta, started laying eggs on the İztuzu beach in Turkey's
western province of Muğla, the Environment Ministry said April 29.

The signatories of the Bern Convention, the international legal instrument in the field of nature conservation, have decided to issue recommendations to Greece due to failure to comply with accords to protect the spawning area of the loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) on the island of Zakynthos.

A loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) was found dead by a member of the public in the Thermaic Gulf, off Thessaloniki on Tuesday afternoon.

The turtle was found near the local Yacht Club and the coast guard was notified, along with the municipality's environmental directorate, who pulled the turtle out of the water.

A loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) was found dead by officials from the Port Authority of Gytheion at the beach of Chalikia Vatta, in the eastern part of the Mani peninsula, authorities said on Sunday.

This is the second sea turtle of its kind found dead in the region of Laconia, after one was located on Saturday on the island of Elafonisos.

The governor of the southern province of Antalya has issued a call for protection of four endangered species of the Mediterranean Sea, including sea turtles, dusky groupers, seahorses and tower shells.

The Archelon society for the protection of the engendered loggerhead turtle said Wednesday that the hatching season has started and advised beachgoers to exercise caution when visiting nesting sites.
