Elafonissi beach, near Hania on Crete, has ranked among the world?s top 10 beaches, according to a recent survey conducted by international travel website Tripadvisor.
Elafonissi placed at number 10 in the world and number 3 in Europe.

Fugitive caught on Zakynthos
Police on the Ionian island of Zakynthos on Monday arrested a 44-year-old Albanian convict who had absconded during a furlough from a prison in the Peloponnese last April.
The convict, who had been serving seven years and three months for a string of robberies, was granted a six-day furlough in April but failed to return to prison.

Ferries tied up at Piraeus, Lavrio and Rafina due to strong winds
Gale-force winds and choppy seas prompted port authorities on Tuesday to issue a sailing ban at the three ports serving Athens, in Piraeus, Lavrio and Rafina.
Ferries will not be sailing to the islands of the Aegean on Tuesday and passengers must check with their ferry operators about ticket returns.
Zakynthos islanders in court after implication in false disability claims
The trial of dozens of people on Zakynthos alleged to have been involved in the false certification of islanders as blind to allow them to claim disability payments began on Friday in a misdemeanors court on the Ionian island.
Earthquake measuring 4.6 Richter shakes Zakynthos
An earthquake measuring 4.6 on the Richter scale struck the Ionian island of Zakynthos on Friday morning.
The Geodynamic Institute said the epicenter of the quake was 60 kilometers southwest of the island. The tremor came at 8.16 a.m. No injuries or damage was reported.

Suspected migrant smugglers face prosecutor in Zakynthos
