Russia's Wagner paramilitary group on Monday claimed it had captured the city hall in Ukraine's eastern town of Bakhmut, giving it "legal" control, but Kiev said its forces still held the town.
The battle for Bakhmut has raged for months with Wagner supporting Russian troops and Ukraine warning the fall of the town would lead to the loss of huge swathes of its territory.

Upon his arrival, Plenkovic spoke with his Ukrainian colleague Denis Smihal, who called his visit a "strong message of support and solidarity".
"Let me first of all congratulate you on the heroism and immense resistance you have shown," Plenkovic said.
Slovenian Prime Minister Robert Golob paid an unannounced visit to Ukraine on 31 March, his first to the war-torn country. Talks with President Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal focused on Slovenia's potential participation in the post-war reconstruction of Ukraine and the country's progress towards EU and NATO membership.
"The Academy Award is pragmatically useful. Now the film will be watched by at least another 20 million people.
This means that viewers will be exposed to the facts that we present in this film - Russia has a program to kill and eliminate its own citizens, anyone who has the courage to go against the authorities or run for president."
