Crypto boss sentenced for failure to submit documents

Faruk Fatih Özer, the founder of the now-defunct cryptocurrency platform Thodex, has been sentenced to seven months and 15 days in prison for failing to submit requested documents to the Tax Inspection Board.

Özer's case was heard at the Anatolian 17th Criminal Court of First Instance, with the defendant connected via the audio and video information system (SEGBİS).

Education Ministry develops digital platform for English learning

The Education Ministry has developed a digital education platform called "Diyalekt" to facilitate the English learning processes of users of all ages and levels, Minister Mahmut Özer has announced.

Özer emphasized that they announced a mobilization in three languages consisting of Turkish, English and mathematics.

Turkish cryptocurrency boss arrested in Albania

The founder of a cryptocurrency exchange Thodex, suspected of having fled Turkey with the assets of his clients, has been arrested in Albania, the Turkish Interior Ministry said on Aug. 30. 

Türkiye issued an international arrest warrant in April last year for fugitive businessman Faruk Fatih Özer, who fled with a reported $2 billion in investors' assets.

Private school fees cannot be increased arbitrarily: Minister

An arbitrary increase in annual private school fees, which became a hot topic on the country's agenda for some people, reaching up to 294,000 liras ($17,750), cannot be accepted, Education Minister Mahmut Özer has said.

"We are evaluating all complaints from parents on this issue and will intervene if needed," Özer said on June 7.
