Zeugma Mosaic Museum in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, one of the largest mosaic museums in the world, broke its daily visitor record during the Eid holiday.

Gaziantep Museum Director Özgür Çomak stated that the all-time visitor record across Türkiye was broken on the second day of Eid al-Fitr and said, "We reached a record number with 5,660 people on the second day alone."

Zeugma Mosaic Museum, among the largest mosaic museums in the world, has reopened its doors to visitors after the earthquakes that rattled the east of the country on Feb. 6.

Copies of 12 pieces of the "Gypsy Girl" mosaic, brought from the U.S. to southeastern Gaziantep in Turkey in 2018, were sent to be exhibited in the American state of Ohio.

The pieces will be open to visitors at The Wolfe Center For The Arts at Bowling Green State University.

Byzantine-era mosaics found on the floor of a house during illegal excavations in the southeastern province of Gaziantep have been divided into 98 pieces after two years of work and started being moved to the Zeugma Mosaic Museum.

The Zeugma Mosaic Museum, one of the world's largest mosaic museums, in Turkey's southeast attracted a record number of visitors with 340,569 people in 2019, according to official data.

The museum, located in the southeastern province of Gaziantep, drew 108,835 tourists in 2016, 169,773 in 2017, and 267,552 tourists in 2018, according to the Turkish Culture and Tourism Ministry data.

The replicas of the 12 pieces of the Gypsy Girl mosaic, brought from the U.S. to the Zeugma Mosaic Museum in the southeastern province of Gaziantep 58 years after it was plundered, are being prepared at the Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality Mosaic Education Center.
