The Bulgarian Foreign Ministry has summoned Croatian ambassador to Sofia, Jasna Ognjanovac, for talks after harsh criticism directed at Sofia's foreign policy by Croatian President Zoran Milanović. 

Brdo pri Kranju – Having gathered for a summit at Brdo pri Kranju on Monday, the leaders of the Brdo-Brijuni Process adopted a declaration to reaffirm their commitment to EU enlargement, but failed to reach a consensus to call against changes to borders in the region due to Serbia’s opposition.

President Vui was welcomed by the host, Slovenian President Borut Pahor and Croatian President Zoran Milanovi.
Upon his arrival, the President of Serbia greeted Pahor more cordially than Milanovi, with whom, according to the Tanjug reporter, he greeted more officially.

The Brdo-Brioni summit was originally planned for last year, to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the initiative, but was postponed twice due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Croatian President Zoran Milanovic drew condemnation on Thursday after he insulted reporters from the public broadcaster Croatian Radio Television, HRT, in the coastal city of Split, accusing them of being tricksters, mercenaries and an embarrassment to the country.

Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic told the annual commemoration at Jasenovac on Thursday that the Independent State of Croatia, NDH, a fascist puppet state run by the Ustasa movement and supported by Nazi Germany and Fascist Italy, was "one of the most tragic periods in Croatian history".

President Zoran Milanovic said on Tuesday that he spoke with representatives of Croatian war veterans' associations and agreed with them that the fate of Croatian soldiers and civilians who went missing during the 1990s war for independence from Yugoslavia must finally be established.

The arbitration agreement was signed by the then prime ministers Borut Pahor and Jadranka Kosor in Stockholm on 4 November 2009 following almost two decades of failed border talks.

The Croatian parliament was dissolved on Monday on the proposal last week of six parliamentary clubs of the ruling majority, led by the centre-right Croatian Democratic Union HDZ, whose ratings have risen in the coronavirus epidemic.

"Under labour law, it is the union that has the legal basis to negotiate with an employer about possible cutbacks. Basically, it's the one institution that we have with which we can fight for our rights, even in crisis situations like this, but also in situations where we are not in some kind of crisis," Sever said.
