Thousands of refugees remain stranded on the Croatian border with Serbia, waiting for transport to Slovenia while another 10,000 refugees, coming from Greece, were expected to arrive on the Serbian-Croatian border on Monday morning.

Dacic: Croatian president gave "non-European" statements

Serbian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic qualified as non-European the statement of Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic who said that Zagreb would have to put up a fence on the border with Serbia to protect itself from the migrant tide.

Croatia is entering one of the shortest election campaigns in its history after President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic on Monday set polling day for November 8.

Now the date of the vote has been confirmed, the parties and independent candidates have 14 days to submit their applications to the State Electoral Commission, which will accept and publish all valid lists within 48 hours.

Hungarian PM Viktor Orban says his Croatian counterpart "should be considered a representative of the Socialist International whose job is to attack Hungary."

Speaking about Zoran Milanovic for Hungarian radio station Kossuth, Orban stated:

Croatian President Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic will meet Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban next week to discuss the ongoing refugee crisis that has troubled the relations between two countries.

Grabar Kitarovic will pay an official visit to Budapest to ease tensions and improve traditionally good bilateral relations with Hungary.

With parliamentary elections expected in November, the economy, the refugee crisis and voter trust in the main leadership candidates are likely to dominate the debate, sayspolitical analyst.

Croat PM: "Who is that Nikolic?"

Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic has said he "no longer wants to talk to Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic."

This has been reported on Monday by the N1 broadcaster.

- I feel like wearing my opponents like medals on my suit. I don't want to talk to Vucic at all any longer - said he.

Aleksandar Vulin has said he is "certain" Croatia will "give up on the idea to hermetically seal its border.."

Such an idea has been voiced by Croatian Prime Minister Zoran Milanovic.

Croatia ends blockade of border with Serbia

Croatia has opened Bajakovo (Batrovci) and Tovarnik (Sid) crossings on its border with Serbia for all traffic, with no restrictions.

The Croatian Interior Ministry confirmed the news, saying that all vehicles "regardless of license plates" and all trucks can enter Croatia starting from 17:00 CET on Friday.

Croatian PM Zoran Milanovic is "intensively discussing" lifting "today (Friday) or tomorrow" his country's blockade of the border with Serbia.
