Deputy Oana Mizil was brought on Thursday on a warrant to the National Anticorruption Directorate (DNA) to be heard by the prosecutors.

Mizil is a target in the case where searches are being conducted at the Bucharest Sector 5 Mayor's Office and mayor Marian Vanghelie's home, judicial sources informed.

Mizil said she didn't know what party she is in the action and denied being a suspect. She also denied any business relationship with Vanghelie.

Anticorruption prosecutors are investigating a criminal case on suspicions of corruption and similar offenses committed in the period 2007 ? 2015.

According to a DNA release to AGERPRES, searches are being conducted this Thursday at nine addresses in Bucharest and Ilfov County, two of which are public institution premises, while the others are company offices and private homes.

Judicial sources told AGERPRES that one of the addresses targeted by the prosecutors is the home of Sector 5 mayor Marian Vanghelie. The same sources mentioned that the prosecutors raided the Sector 5 Public Domain Administration headquarters and the offices of Calex Business Group.

The case has to do with acts committed between 2007 up to the present day, consisting of the illegal award of public works, with the damage assumingly amounting to 2 billion lei. For the award of the contracts and the payment of the works Mayor Vanghelie is said to have charged a fee of about 20 percent in various forms, judicial sources added. AGERPRES
