Croatian Politicians Arrive in BiH to 'Protect Croats' from Bosniaks

BELGRADE - Following the controversial Republika Srpska referendum, elections in Bosnia and Hercegovina have again raised tensions after allegations of vote-rigging and physical attacks.

Croatian politicians have arrived in Bosnia and Hercegovina in a show of support for Bosnian Croats living there.

On October 2, local elections were held in the municipality of Stolac, about 27 km from Mostar in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, one of the two political entities that constitute Bosnia and Hercegovina (BiH). In the course of the elections, several physical attacks were reported and 12 ballot boxes stolen, which resulted in voting being suspended.

Two Bosnian Croats serving on the local electoral commission in the town of Stolac were physically assaulted, and one was still in hospital a week later with serious injuries. Police have arrested 27 suspects,...
