Man, 29, charged with mugging taxi drivers

A 29-year-old man faced an Athens prosecutor on Thursday charged with mugging taxi drivers in the area of Nikaia with an accomplice who was being sought by the police.

The pair are alleged to have flagged down taxis late at night or in the early hours of the morning, posing as customers, and to have directed the drivers to remote and poorly lit locations where they used knives to force the cabbies to hand over cash and valuables.
