#CentenaryofGreatUnion Campaign "Romania Flotilla Centenary. A promotion project of Romania in European cities 2018-2019," launched in Bucharest

The campaign "Romania Flotilla Centenary. A promotion project of Romania in European cities 2018-2019," initiated by ICR London and the "Ivan Patzaichin-Mila 23" Association, was launched on Friday at Romexpo.

"Today we launch the 'Romania Flotilla Centenary', a project in which we plan to gather six different boats. Each boat will represent a historical region of Greater Romania and together we wish to organize some cultural events and promotion of Romania in events by water. For the beginning, we will do the launching in Bucharest, on Dambovita River, towards the end of July. We will be present at the festival in Tulcea, at the end of August, on September 10 we are invited to the Thames Festival, and in April 2019 we will be on Seine," Teodor Frolu, founding member of the 'Ivan Patzaichin-Mila 23' Association, told AGERPRES.

Ivan Patzaichin said the inspiration for the campaign was the visit of Charles, Prince of Wales to the Village Museum in Bucharest, where he showed interest and admiration for the traditional boats built in the Delta.

At the event was also presented also the first boat, which was named "Dobrogea". The next five boats will be named after the historical regions of Greater Romania - Wallachia, Moldavia, Bessarabia, Bucovina and Transylvania.

"Romania Flotilla Centenary" will be fully launched at end-July at a cultural event on Dambovita River, after which the boats will remain exhibited until the end of August. Between August 31 and September 2, the boats will take part, in Tulcea, in the opening of the eighth edition of "RowmaniaFEST - the International Rowing Club Festival", after which they will be displayed at Tulcea until the end of the Festival.

From September 9 to 16, the boats will be present in London. On September 15-16, the boats will take part in the Thames Festival.

Between September 22 and October 15, the flotilla will return to Romania and the boats will be exhibited at the closing of "Bucharest Days".

In April 2019, in Paris, in the context of the Romanian-French Season, the flotilla will sail on Seine.

Teodor Frolu specified that each boat will have a crew of ten people, the selection of the participants to be made following a registration campaign that will take place in Bucharest and Tulcea, as well as in London and Paris, the organizers said.

The project, initiated by ICR London and the "Ivan Patzaichin-Mila 23" Association, is being carried out with the support of the City Hall and the Ministry of Culture and National Identity.AGERPRES(RO - author: Petronius Craiu, editor: Mihai Simionescu; EN - author: Bogdan Gabaroi, editor: Maria Voican)
