President Klaus Iohannis: Kofi Annan - visionary leader whose efforts to reform UN will not be forgotten

Bucharest, Aug 18 /Agerpres/ - Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan was a visionary leader whose efforts to reform the UN will not be forgotten, President Klaus Iohannis stressed on Saturday.

"We lost Kofi Annan today, former UN Secretary General and Nobel Prize Laureate. He was a visionary leader, an inspiration for all of us to continue to work towards a more peaceful world. His efforts to reform the UN will not be forgotten. Heartfelt condolences to his family," the head of state said in an English message posted on Twitter.

Former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, Nobel Peace Prize laureate in 2001, has died on Saturday at the age of 80, his foundation announced in Geneva, according to international news agencies.
