Hrovat 7th in women’s giant slalom in Beijing

Beijing – Slovenia’s Meta Hrovat placed 7th in the women’s giant slalom at the Winter Olympics in Beijing on Monday, finishing 1.35 seconds behind the gold medal winner, Sara Hector of Sweden.

Hector, who was in the lead also after the first run, was followed by Italy’s Federica Brignone for silver and Lara Gut-Behrami of Switzerland for bronze.

Hrovat’s 7th place on the Ice River ski course in the Yanqing district is an improvement on her previous best Olympic result in the giant slalom, the 14th place in PyeongChang in 2018.

Three other Slovenians competed today, with Ana Bucik finishing 11th and Tina Robnik finishing 18th. Andreja Slokar did not finish the final race.
