Coalition parties, government on ascent in POP TV poll

Ljubljana – The Robert Golob government is entering autumn with the highest approval rating so far and the three coalition parties have made significant gains compared to last month, according to a poll released by POP TV.

More than 58% of respondents support the government, up seven points over last month and the highest approval rating for any government in a POP TV poll since mid-2016. Just under 27% disapprove of its work and 15% are undecided.

The high approval rating also reflects on the standing of the parties with the Freedom Movement gaining 3.6 percentage points to 31.4% and the Social Democrats (SD) up nearly five points to 23.4%. The Left inched up 0.6 points to 5.3%.

In the ranks of the opposition, the Democrats (SDS) lost 4.6 points to 23.4% and New Slovenia (NSi) slipped two points to 5.5%.

Prime Minister Golob tops the rankings of the most popular politicians, followed by Borut Pahor, Health Minister Daniel Bešič Loredan, SDS presidential candidate Anže Logar and Speaker Urška Klakočar Zupančič.

The poll was conducted by Mediana between 22 and 25 August and involved 721 respondents.
