Foreign Ministry welcomes start of Bosnia and Herzegovina EU accession negotiations

The Foreign Ministry has said it "warmly welcomes the decision of the European Council to start the accession negotiations of Bosnia and Herzegovina with the European Union."

"Greece has actively supported and continues to support the accession process of Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the framework of promoting the European perspective of the Western Balkans, which was inaugurated with the Thessaloniki Declaration in 2003," the ministry said in a post on X.

Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, in joint statements with his Croatian counterpart a few days ago in Zagreb, underlined that it is time for Bosnia and Herzegovina to start accession negotiations with the EU.

Greece is a member of the group of countries promoting the accession of the Western Balkans.
