The Assumption fast begins today and continues until August 15 when one of the greatest Christian feasts, the Assumption of Virgin Mary is marked, BGNES reports.

The assumption Fast is one of the four multiday periods for prayer and chastity during the year.

130 Injured and Financial Losses of Nearly USD 6 million after the Tropical Storms in Taiwan

One person is missing and at least 130 are injured after two powerful tropical storms hit Taiwan. The first was the typhoon "Nesat" on Saturday, and less than 24 hours later damage was caused by another disaster - "Haitian". Reports BTV. 

Nesat had a force equivalent to a category 1 hurricane. In the capital of Taipei, it produced winds at a speed of up to 150 km/h.

Sexual, physical violence against disabled people on the rise in Turkey: Report

Sexual and physical violence against people with disabilities have been on the rise since 2013 in Turkey, according to a report by the Social Rights and Research Association (TOHAD). 

TOHAD based its findings in its report from 2012 to 2016 on a total of around 285,000 news articles and court decisions from around the country. 

Two die, two hospitalized at waste treatment plant

Two workers died and another two had to be hospitalized after suffering breathing problems at a biological waste treatment plant in Laconia in the Peloponnese on Tuesday.
