11-Year-Old Syrian Boy Donates Savings to Help Burned Bulgarian Village of Krastava

A Syrian boy donated his one-year savings to help the poor people in the village of Krastava, whose homes burned down - Pirin News writes.

11-year-old Firas Zayad collected BGN 175 in coins and banknotes in his piggy bank, which he now donates. The child donates for the third time.

The EC Will Sue Bulgaria for the Dirty Air around Galabovo

Today, the European Commission (EC) has decided to file a lawsuit against Bulgaria for exceeding the sulfur dioxide standards in the Galabovo region. The problem with high levels of sulfur dioxide in Bulgaria has existed for a long time, mainly in connection with the use of coal with high sulfur content from some thermal power plants.

Archaeologists from 12 Countries Take Part in Scientific Conference in Galabovo

Archaeologists from 12 countries and scientists from all over Bulgaria participate in the scientific conference held in the town of Galabovo, South Bulgaria, on 25th of October, reports BNT. 

Krasimir Leshakov, Professor of Archeology at Sofia University, says that one of the mounds in Galabovo which was subject to research, places Bulgaria on the map of prehistory.

Large Wildfire Rages Near Bulgaria's Harmanli

A large wildfire is raging between the villages of Rogozinovo, Dositeevo, Kolarovo and Balgarin in the southern Bulgarian municipality of Harmanli on Sunday.

Ten firefighter crews, five teams of foresters and many volunteers are trying to extinguish the fire which has engulfed vineyards, orchards, pastures, bushes and a pine forest.
