Thessaloniki
Thessaloniki also known as Thessalonica, Salonika or Salonica, is the second-largest city in Greece and the capital of the region of Macedonia. Greeks consider it like συμπρωτεύουσα (the associated-capital) of the Northern Greece. Indeed, Thessaloniki was already the largest city of the Byzantine Empire after Constantinople.
Strike could block real estate market
The notaries of Athens and Thessaloniki are threatening to block the real estate market after announcing strike action beginning on November 20 in response to the way in which the digitization of notarial acts is proceeding.

Self-defense with humanity, says UN deputy chief
The under-secretary-general of the United Nations and high representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations, Miguel Angel Moratinos, was in the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki last week representing UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres at the award ceremony for the Empress Theophano Prize, which this year went to the international organization.

PM to meet officials in two-day visit to China
Greek Premier Kyriakos Mitsotakis is in China where he will meet on Friday with President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and Chairman of the National People's Congress Zhao Leji.
The visit will be an opportunity to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation, as well as issues of regional and international interest.

Thessaloniki inks Climate Pact for zero emissions
The Municipality of Thessaloniki signed the Climate Pact in the context of the municipality's participation in the European mission for 100 climate-neutral and smart cities by 2030.
The pact was signed on Friday by Thessaloniki Mayor Konstantinos Zervas and local stakeholders and organizations.

Traffic between Athens and Thessaloniki disrupted due to flooding
Vehicular traffic between Athens and Thessaloniki has been disrupted after flooding lead to the closure of roads in a number of sections on the motorway between the two cities.
Illegal brothel shut down in Thessaloniki
Police on Thursday raided an illegal brothel in northern port city of Thessaloniki which also recorded the activities of its customers with a secret camera.
The 62-year-old manager of the brothel, which was operating without a license, a 48-year-old associate and a 25-year-old woman were arrested.

Evacuation from Greece is not possible, roads are closed, everyone calls for patience
The evacuation of tourists from Greece is currently not possible because the highways are closed, Serbian Ambassador to Greece Duan Spasojevi confirmed for B92.net.
As he stated, storms are slowly abating, however, it is still not possible for Serbian tourists to return or evacuate, because the roads are closed.
