Fire breaks out in Athens orphanage
Fire fighters on Monday put out a blaze that started at an orphanage in the suburb of Ilion, west Athens, early in the morning, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.
The blaze started for a yet unknown reason at the second floor of the building located on Agia Triados Street shortly after 2 a.m., the fire service said.

Two stores, one car targeted in overnight arson attacks in Athens
Two stores and one car were torched in the districts of Kipseli and Egaleo respectively early Thursday morning, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.
In the first attack, unknown assailants planted two incendiary devices at the entrance of a butcher shop and a store selling alarm systems on Agia Zoni Street, in the central district of Kipseli at 4.25 a.m.
Burglars break into shipping magnate’s house in Athens suburb
Two armed burglars broke into the house of a well-known shipping magnate in the north Athenian suburb of Ekali on Wednesday night, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported Thursday.
According to police sources cited by the news agency, the suspects entered the house shortly after 8.30 p.m. and held up the housekeeper, identified as a Filipino national.

First ferry in 2020 welcomed in Piraeus
A Greek ferry with 80 passengers on board was the first ship to dock at Piraeus port on 2020, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported Wednesday.
Olympus, operated by Sea Speed Ferries, arrived at the port at 2.52 a.m. on Wednesday morning, after completing the journey from Rethymno to Piraeus, with stops in Santorini and Milos.

Riot police unit attacked in central Athens
A riot police unit stationed behind the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB) was attacked by hooded youths on Friday afternoon, state-run news agency ANA-MPA reported.
The attack occurred at 4.15 p.m. when about 10 youths started hurling stones, plastic bottles and other objects against the officers.
They then fled the scene. No arrests were made.
