A new third-party buyer may enter the bid for the deal for the Bulgarian business of the energy company CEZ. The parent company is already negotiating with the company interested in Prague, it is clear from information confirmed by "24 hours".

The Bulgarian company Inercom is no longer considered by CEZ as an exclusive candidate in the deal for the Bulgarian assets of the company and is also negotiating with the Indian "India Power Corp.". This is stated on the site of the Czech newspaper Lidove News, quoting sources from CEZ, reports Dnevnik.

Bulgaria's parliament on Wednesday amended energy legislation to give the country's Energy and Water Regulatory Commission, KEVR, the final say on the sales of 20 or more per cent of any gas or electrical distribution company operating in the country.

Ahmed Dogan, the controversial chairman of honour of Bulgaria's ethnic-Turk Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), has acquired 70% stake in local company SIGDA, which is the owner of the Varna thermal power plant, for an undisclosed sum, according to information from the company register.

Czech energy company CEZ has filed an administrative claim against the Bulgarian competition watchdog, CPC, over a ban on selling its assets in Bulgaria to the local firm Inercom Group, Investor.bg reported on August 7.

SOFIA (Reuters) - Bulgaria's solar energy producer Inercom has launched a court challenge against an anti-monopoly regulator's ruling to block its acquisition of the Bulgarian assets of Czech utility CEZ (CEZP.PR), the company said on Monday.

The electricity distribution companies in Bulgaria CEZ, EVN and Energo Pro have submitted applications to the Energy and Water Regulatory Commission (EWRC) requesting 8% to 20% increase in the prices of electricity as of 1st of July, the regulator said on 17th of April.

The European Commission supports the construction of a gas distribution center in Bulgaria, EU Energy Commissioner Maroš Šefčovič said during an energy conference in Sofia, part of the events related to the Bulgarian Euro-Presidency.

The resignation of Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova will not be accepted, Bulgaria's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Krasimir Karakachanov said on 6th of March. The decision was taken yesterday at a meeting with Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, which was attended by cabinet ministers.

President Rumen Radev assessed the government's actions as chaotic regarding the sale of CEZ, reports Darik. 

The President's comment was made about today's meeting of Prime Minister Borisov with the owner of the candidate-buyer of CEZ ,Gina Varbakova, and the request of Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov that the state has the opportunity to enter into this deal.
