European development bank offers loan to help enhance power distribution in northwestern Turkey

In a move to enhance reforms in the Turkish electricity sector, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has said it is financing electricity companies operating in the north west of the country, in a written statement. 

Piraeus Bank to sell part of European Reliance stake to EBRD

Greece's Piraeus Bank will sell part of its 28 percent stake in insurer European Reliance to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), a Piraeus official said on Wednesday.

Piraeus, Greece's largest lender by assets, plans to divest the entire stake as part of a restructuring plan which entails the disposal of non-core assets.

EBRD expects continued reforms, to back investment momentum

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) "expects Serbia to continue to be fully committed to carrying out the reforms it has started."

This is what the president of the financial institution, Suma Chakrabarti, said at a meeting with Serbian Finance Minister Dusan Vujovic in Washington.

Highways Dominate Balkan Mini-Summit in Albania

Foreign ministers of Western Balkan countries met on Wednesday in Durres, Albania, with EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn to discuss joint infrastructural projects financed by the EU.

The Durres meeting was the fourth such meeting of Western Balkan ministers in the so-called Berlin Process, a five-year process started in August 2014 marked by yearly summits.

Bulgaria Appoints Kalin Mitrev Alternate Director of EBRD Office

The Bulgarian government has named Kalin Mitrev as the country's representative in the Board of Directors at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

Mitrev will also assume the Alternate Director's position, heading the bank's joint office for Poland, Bulgaria and Albania.

Mayor: EBRD backing for projects in Belgrade

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development will back a number of projects in Belgrade, Mayor Sinisa Mali has said.

These include the building of a new bus station in Blok 42 and the restructuring of public transportation company GSP, Mali explained, noting that this shows the Serbian capital is again an attractive investment destination.
