Italian experts in Larissa as part of train crash probe

Four Italian experts visited the investigative magistrate in Larissa, central Greece, on Tuesday to examine the recordings of the passenger train that collided with a freight train at Tempe on the night of February 28. 

With the experts' contribution and conclusions, the final report on the deadly crash is on course for completion.

OSE and Trainose on verge of taking financial disputes to court

Tension between state-controlled Hellenic Railways' Organization (OSE) and Italian-owned railway service operator Trainose has increased amid mutual accusations over the quality of passenger and cargo rail services, while the two companies are also on the verge of legal action over financial considerations.

State transport firms' financial woes increase

State transport companies recorded a decline in revenues and an increase in losses last year, according to official figures.

Revenues fell 1.8 percent from 2016 to 289.3 million euros, with the 84-million-euro increase in state subsidies failing to plug the gap.

For every euro the transport companies earned as operating revenues last year, they got another from taxpayers.

New delay in Rosco privatization

The tug-of-war over the future of railway carriage maintenance company Rosco continues between state sell-off fund TAIPED and the Italian-owned railway service firm Trainose.

The submission of the improved binding bid for Rosco, scheduled for Thursday, has been postponed for another couple of weeks, to April 26, highlighting the difficulty of the project.

Ferrovie's Trainose plans entry in Greek metro systems

After Greek railway carriage maintenance company Rosco, Trainose's interest is turning to urban transport, notably the metro.

Fully controlled by Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, railway service operator Trainose last week submitted the sole bid for the acquisition of 100 percent of Rosco's shares, as the Italians take their second step towards dominating the domestic railway market.
