Industrial Production in Bulgaria Up and Down in EU

Industrial production in the Eurozone in February 2016 marked a surprising decrease by 0.3% as compared to January, data of Eurostat shows, quoted by BNR.

In the whole EU the industrial production decreased with 0.2% as compared to the previous month.

Tsvetan Tsvetanov, GERB: 'Together with United Patriots, We Reached an Agreement'

''We reached an agreement on the topic of pensions'', said the Deputy Chair of GERB Tsvetan Tsvetanov after the meeting with coalition United Patriots -NFSB, ATAKA and VMRO, Focus News reported.

56 smuggled wild species seized, three suspects detained in Istanbul

A total of 56 wild animals which were illegally smuggled into Turkey were seized during a police raid on a farm in Istanbul on April 10, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Police conducted the raid after they were informed about smuggled wild animals at a farm in Istanbul's Çatalca district.

Albania’s state-owned arms broker sold 17.5million Chinese-made bullets, 350 mortars, and 40,000 mortar shells in 2015 to Alguns Ltd, a Bulgarian firm which worked on Washington’s programme to train and equip Syrian rebels.

The firm has been linked to a fatal explosion at a shooting range in Bulgaria in 2015 which left a Pentagon contractor working on the Syrian project dead.

Bulgarian Athlete Becomes Silver Medalist in EU Weightlifting

Bulgaria's Vasil Gospodinov won a silver medal at the European Weightlifting Championships underway in Split, Croatia, according to BNR.

Gospodinov is competing in the 105kg weight class. He succeeded in lifting the total of 397 kg, enough to get him the silver. In the same weight class Armenia's Simon Martirosyan lifted the total of 414 kg and won his first-ever European title.

Serious Growth of Bulgaria's Foreign Turnover

Goods to the overall tune of EUR 3.97 bln. Were exported outside Bulgaria in January and February 2017, or 12.7% more on the same period of 2016, the National Statistical Institute reports, quoted by BNR.

At the same time the size of import has grown by 18.5% to EUR 4. 4 bln.

An Important Political Week Begins

It is expected that during the next few days Boyko Borisov to meet with the leaders of the Bulgarian Socialist Party and  Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) at the National Assembly building.

The reason for the upcoming meeting is not the future cabinet but the tension in Southeastern Europe, migration flows and the Presidency of the European Union.
