Euronews: Militants attack 'Save the Children' office in Afghanistan

Militants have stormed an office of Save the Children in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad, and fought security forces who surrounded the building.

A local government spokesman said the siege was over after a three-hour battle. At least two people, including a soldier, are said to have been killed, and more than a dozen injured.

UN says 270,000 Rohingya fled Myanmar in past two weeks

The United Nations said on Sept. 8 that an "alarming number" of 270,000 Rohingya Muslims have fled violence in Myanmar by crossing into Bangladesh in the last two weeks.

The new figure confirmed by U.N. Refugee Agency spokeswoman Vivian Tan is much higher than the 164,000 the agency had previously estimated had arrived since Aug. 25.
