Kaili not taking part in EP session for ‘personal reasons’
Eva Kaili, the MEP charged over her involvement in the Qatargate scandal, will not attend the plenary session of European Parliament in Strasbourg this week, for "personal, objective reasons which cannot be made public," her lawyers said in a statement on Monday.

The MEP who belongs to the Socialist group has been in the press on other occasions for her possible involvement in the Qatargate scandal, however she is not included among the MEPs for whom the lifting of immunity was requested.
Former Trump Advisor will Unite European Populists
Steve Bannon, the controversial former chief advisor of US President Donald Trump, has announced plans to establish a foundation in Europe to spark a populist right-wing revolt.
Bannon told The Daily Beast that the foundation, called The Movement, will rival George Soros' Open Society Foundation, which has given away billions of euros to largely liberal causes.

Verhofstadt adds to calls for Turkish coup-linked extradition request to be turned down
The pressure on the government to refuse to extradite the eight Turkish soldiers wanted by Ankara for alleged participation in last July's failed coup grew Monday as the head of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats (ALDE) in the European Parliament, Guy Verhofstadt, added his voice to those calling for the military officers to remain in Greece.
