President Iohannis: We need a strong, well prepared Army
President Klaus Iohannis stated on Friday that, in the context in which the regional and global security environment is continuously changing, Romania needs a strong and well prepared Army, able to continue with its contribution to the security and stability of the area and to meet its commitments with NATO, and also to help with the implementation of the EU Common Defence and Security Policy.
Bulgaria and Serbia Hold Bilateral Tactical Exercise "Lions Land - 2019"
The Lions Land 2019 bilateral tactical exercise began today, October 21, with the participation of military personnel from the Bulgarian and Serbian ground forces, the Ministry of Defense announced. It is being held at the Slivnitsa Training Center in the period 21 - 25 October 2019. 150 soldiers from the Brigade Command - Blagoevgrad take part in it from the Bulgarian side.
Turkish defense minister visits Turkish-Syrian border
Turkish Defense Minister Fikri Işık has paid a visit to the southeastern province of Gaziantep in order to obtain information regarding the activities on the Turkish-Syrian border. Işık was accompanied by Land Forces Commander Gen. Salih Zeki Çolak and other high-level military officials, Anadolu Agency reported on Sept. 29.
Turkey, coalition hit ISIL after rockets kill two in Kilis
The U.S.-led coalition hit Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) targets in northern Syria, located directly across from the southeastern province of Kilis, after receiving coordinates from Turkey on April 25. The air strikes came in response to a series of ISIL attacks on the border province, with a fresh attack April 24 killing two people, raising the total death toll to 17 since Jan.
US starts to pull Patriot missiles from Turkey at critical time
The U.S. has started to pull its Patriot missiles stationed in Turkey, despite a recent appeal from Ankara to its NATO allies to keep the air and missile defense units at a delicate time on the border with Syria.
Urartian stelas at Van Museum
Two 2,800-year-old Urartian-era stelas found in the Patnos Brigade Command campus in the eastern province of Van have been transported to the Van Museum.
