Consultative Council on National Security

Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov stated, in an interview for Nova TV, that he does not have a Canadian passport in his possession, and that he has handed it, and his citizenship certificate over to the Canadian authorizes.

Bulgarian President Rumen Radev convenes the Consultative Council on National Security next Monday, August 16.

The meeting will discuss the results from the fight against corruption at the high levels of power and the need for measures, the Presidency's press office announced.

Bulgaria's Consultative Council on National Security on January 9 was convened by President Rumen Radev over the escalated tensions in the Middle East. After the meeting, President Rumen Radev said that Council members had agreed on the position that the escalation of the crisis was endangering peace, not only regionally but also globally.

Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov has ordered checks into property acquisitions by the Head of the anti-corruption commission, Plamen Georgiev, the son of the National Investigation Service director Borislav Sarafov and the wife of Supreme Court of Cassation head Lozan Panov, reports BNT.

It will take place on Monday, 8th of April, at 1:00 pm at the building of the Presidency.

MPs on 8th of March voted to approve an amnesty of overdue liabilities incurred by religious denominations. The debt is to be written off through amendments to the Religious Faiths Act, which were approved at first reading by votes from GERB and MRF. United Patriots were against, reports BNT. 

Bulgaria's Head of State Roumen Radev and US President Donald Trump talked during NATO budget discussions, the press office of the head of state said on 12th of July.

The defence budget is set to reach 2% of GDP by 2024, quoted by the Bulgarian National Television. 

This is envisaged in the National Security Strategy, adopted by Parliament on 14th of March.

''I would call a Consultative Council on National Security on the general subject of energy, Belene NPP and CEZ are particular cases'', President Rumen Radev told reporters regarding the deal for the sale of CEZ's business in Bulgaria, FOCUS News Agency reports.

''During the meeting with President Rumen Radev we confirmed out stand that we are to remain an opposition at the 44th National Assembly due to the will of the Bulgarian people'', the leader of the Bulgarian Socialist Party Kornelia Ninova said after the consultations held with Bulgaria's head of state Radev, BNR reported.
