ERT Symphony Orchestra

World-famous Spanish opera singer Jose Carreras, hailed as one of the three great tenors of the modern age, will perform in Athens for one night only on November 24 in a concert that is reported as being the last he is planning in Greece and the Balkans.

Respected Greek composer Yiannis Markopoulos conducts the ERT Symphony Orchestra and Athens Municipal Choir at the Papagou Garden Theater in his landmark piece "The Liturgy of Orpheus," an oratorio of fragments of Orphic poems with a narrative text by Panos Theodoridis.

Oscar-winning French composer and pianist Michel Legrand will be on stage at the Herod Atticus Theater for an evening of career highlights, accompanied by Greek singer Giorgos Perris and the ERT Symphony Orchestra, regaling the public with songs and music from film scores written for classic movies including "The Thomas Crown Affair," "Yentl" and "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg." The ERT Symphony Orchestra will perform works by Bedrich Smetana, Robert Schumann, Franz Schubert, Hector Berlioz and Nikos Christodoulou, who will also conduct, at the Athens Concert Hall on Monday, January 9. The ensemble will be joined by baritone Dimitris Tiliakos. The concert starts at 8.30 p.m. Admission is set at 10 euros (5 euros reduced).

The ERT Symphony Orchestra and Choir, under the baton of Anastasios Symeonidis, perform works by Pierpont, Poulenc, Caccini, Carey and Balta, among others, at the Athens Concert Hall on Monday, December 19. Joining them on stage is soprano Mina Polychronou and mezzo-soprano Margarita Syngeniotou. The concert is set to start at 8.30 p.m. Admission is 10 euros.
