The number of successful women assuming prominent roles in the Greek business world is rapidly on the rise. 

The Union of Greek Shipowners boasts a female president, Melina Travlos, a development of significant importance not only domestically but also globally, given that a quarter of the world's commercial fleet is controlled by Greek interests.

Focus on decarbonization at Posidonia

Decarbonization of shipping will be on the radar more intensely than ever before at Posidonia 2024, the industry's biggest exhibition that will take place in Athens on June 3-7.

The industry, which will convene at the Metropolitan Expo center next to Athens International Airport, intends to debate ways of achieving sustainability targets set by new environmental regulations.

New Greek-flagged vehicle carrier for Neptune Lines

Neptune Lines on Tuesday announced the acquisiton of another vessel for its fleet, and specifically a carrier able to transport 4,900 passenger vehicles.

The "Neptune Ethos" was launched in 2011, and comes months after the company, led by influential Union of Greek Shipowners president Melina Travlos, acquired its sister ship, the "Neptune Tharros".

Health ministry, shipowners union sign MoU for donation to state hospitals

The president and board of the Union of Greek Shipowners signed on Tuesday a memorandum with the Ministry of Health for a donation that will cover the costs of renovating washrooms in Attica state hospitals and buying new bed linen and blankets for hospitals throughout the country.
