Cyprus tourism rises in January-April y-o-y

Tourism arrivals in Cyprus fell by 2.7% in April 2024, totaling 333,563 compared to 342,736 in the same month of 2023.

However, for the period from January to April 2024, arrivals saw a 1.7% increase.

In a written statement, Tourism Deputy Minister Kostas Koumis said that the data indicate that Cyprus is meeting its targets despite adversities.

Cyprus tourism up 5% in first quarter

The deputy minister of tourism for Cyprus, Kostas Koumis, said on Friday that tourism has been showing a solid northward trend since the start of the year. 

He went on to note that provisional statistics from the first quarter of 2024 demonstrate an increase of more than 5% compared to the same period last year.

Celestyal Journey in Limassol

Celestyal Cruises held a special event this week to present the largest jewel in its fleet, the Celestyal Journey, in Limassol port. The vessel has been hosting Celestyal cruises since September, scheduled to continue until June 2024, with the exceptions of January and February.

Cyprus tourism recovering after Russia sanctions

Tourism in Cyprus appears to be recovering from the repercussions of sanctions on Russia, following the invasion of Ukraine, recording an increase of 8% compared to 2019, which was a very good season for the island, according to figures discussed on Tuesday during a parliamentary committee on tourism, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Tourism Kostas Koumis.
