Resolution approved. Now what?

The resolution calls on Vice President Mike Pence to initiate the procedure envisaged by the 25th Amendment of the American Constitution, so that President Donald Trump would be relieved of his duties, the agencies report. The resolution was adopted by 223 votes to 205.

US Congress formally certifies Joe Biden's election win

U.S. lawmakers on Jan. 7 formally certified Joe Biden as the winner of the presidential election - clearing the way for his inauguration on January 20.    

Republican Vice President Mike Pence certified the Electoral College count of 306 electors in favor of the Democrat against 232 in favor of outgoing Republican President Donald Trump.

Until these elections, this meeting was a mere formality on the path between the November 3 vote and the inauguration on January 20.
