Vucic to Patrushev: Serbia unequivocally militarily neutral

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met on Thursday in Belgrade with Secretary of Security Council of Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev.

The two officials concluded that the Republic of Serbia and the Russian Federation continue to foster and promote friendly relations in various spheres of social life, the Serbian government announced.

Reported Expulsions Overshadow Russian Security Chief's Serbia Visit

Serbia has expelled several Russians for their alleged involvement in illegal activities in Montenegro, where authorities claim they prevented a coup, the Serbian daily Danas reported on Thursday.

The newspaper cited unnamed sources close to the Serbian government but did not reveal the names of those expelled and BIRN could not verify this information independently.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic met with the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev on Wednesday in Belgrade.

They discussed the current political and security situation in the region and worldwide and models of military technical cooperation between Serbia and Russia.

BELGRADE - The head of Russia's Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, was in the Serbian capital, Belgrade, for talks with senior officials.

Patrushev, who is believed to be one of Russian President Vladimir Putin's closest associates, on October 26 urged Serbia to sign a "memorandum of understanding" on security relations.
