The members of Türkiye's highest administrative court, the Council of State, have reelected the incumbent president, Zeki Yiğit, for a new four-year term with 62 votes.

Yiğit, whose term of office that began in May 2020 was due to expire, competed against three other candidates in the elections held on April 24.

The Court of Appeals on April 15 once again failed to elect a new president in the 16th round of the election that has been underway since the end of March, finding itself in a deadlock.

Turkish packaging manufacturers aim to boost their exports to the large European market, with North America also on their radar for expansion.

Europe absorbs some 60 percent of the local packaging sector's $7.5 billion worth of exports, said Zeki Sarıbekir, the head of the Turkish Packaging Manufacturers Association (ASD).
