The controversial Turkish televangelist Adnan Oktar, who was arrested by an Istanbul court on July 19, told the police that Britain's Queen Elizabeth II sent a delegation to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan to "kindly ask" for his arrest.

Fraudsters have conned a 70-year-old woman in Istanbul into believing that she was wanted by the police for being a suspected follower of arrested televangelist Adnan Oktar, whom he called his "kittens."

Turkish televangelist Adnan Oktar has blamed the "British deep state" over his detention in Istanbul along with dozens of his followers on July 11, with several charges ranging from sexual abuse to military espionage against him.

The head of Turkey's Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) on Jan. 31 slammed controversial TV personality and creationist Adnan Oktar, whose colorful TV shows blend religious talk with elaborately made up and surgically enhanced guests.

An important opportunity to increase the number of women parliamentarians for equal representation has been missed, according to the head of women's NGO. "These elections are very important because Turkey will be governed by a different model," said Sanem Oktar Ögüt, the president of the Women Entrepreneurs Association of Turkey (KAGİDER).
