BELGRADE - Leader of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) Ivica Dacic informed Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic on Thursday that the party is ready to be part of the parliament majority.

President starts consultations on government

BELGRADE -- Serbian President Tomislav Nikolić is on Thursday beginning consultations with parties and coalitions about the formation of Serbia's new government.

This will continue also on Tuesday, April 22, it has been announced.

Parliament speaker to be elected on April 23

BELGRADE -- The new Serbian parliament was constituted on Wednesday as the MPs took the oath of office after their mandates were approved.

The parliament speaker, the deputy speaker and the members of parliamentary bodies will be elected at a session scheduled for April 23.

BELGRADE - The leaders and deputies of most of eleven MP groups in the new parliament have been chosen after the constitutive session of the Serbian parliament on Wednesday.

As Tanjug was told at the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), Zoran Babic will again lead the party's MP group in the parliament, with Maja Gojkovic as his deputy.

Tadić says no NDS party official will be in cabinet

SNS leader invited Socialists to join government

BELGRADE -- The SNS main board late on Tuesday authorized Aleksandar Vučić to continue the talks on forming the next government and present a proposal of its composition.

Government "will have to be most serious"

DELIBLATO -- Tomislav Nikolić says that " given the enormous trust of the people the new government will have to be the most serious in Serbia’s recent history."

The president also "pledged to do all he can to help in achieving its goals."

Dačić "highly likely to join new government"

BELGRADE -- SPS Vice President Slavica Đukić-Dejanović said on Tuesday that it was "highly likely" that Ivica Dačić will become a member of Serbia's new government.

Dačić is the leader of the Socialists (SPS) and serves prime minister and interior minister in the now caretaker cabinet.

BELGRADE - The new convocation of the Serbian parliament, whose constitution will start on Wednesday, will include presidents of 12 parties from seven slates who will take an oath of office.

SNS holds another meeting on cabinet

BELGRADE -- SNS leader Aleksandar Vučić will on Tuesday propose his future cabinet's members, and its "concept" to a meeting of the party's main board.

He will first address the session, after which it will be closed to the public.
