Bulgaria's SAC Revokes Fingerprint Identification for Hospital Patients

Bulgaria's Supreme Administrative Court has annulled finally the regulation for the admitting and discharge of patients from hospitals only after fingerprint identification.

The announcement will be published tomorrow after the personal data of the five members of the court is erased.

Police arrests the man who hid the 18 kilos of cannabis and cocaine

 

A 33-year-old Albanian has been arrested in Loutraki after a four and a half months investigation regarding a big quantity of drugs that had been found on October 28th last year.

 
According to the police, he and a still unknown number of accomplices had hidden 17,93 kilos of cannabis and 93,48 gr. of cocaine.

Introduction of Fingerprint Identification in Outpatient Sector Postponed

Bulgaria's Health Ministry has postponed the introduction of fingerprint identification in the outpatient sector.

The decision will protect the healthcare system from collapse in terms of medical, technical, information and financial stability, stated Health Minister Ilko Semerdzhiev.

EU Commission Refers Bulgaria to Court over E-Documents

The European Commission has said it will refer Bulgaria to the Court of Justice of the EU for non-implementation of obligations it has assumed under the common law related to e-documents.

In a statement dated Monday, the Commission cites "non-implementation of the obligation to create a Single Point of Contact" for e-passports and e-residence permits.

Fingerprint Authentication Mandatory in Bulgarian Hospitals As Of November 1

The new system for fingerprint authentication has been introduced in all health facilities in Bulgaria as of November 1.

As of Tuesday, all hospitals operating with the National Health Insurance Fund (NZOK) will have to use the devices and register patients with them, if hospitals are to be paid for their activities at the end of each month.

Turkey issues biometric passports as part of visa deal with EU

Turkey will begin issuing new biometric passports in November in a bid to fulfill one of the remaining criteria required by the European Union to grant a visa waiver to Turkish citizens as part of March 18 deal between Ankara and Brussels, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Oct. 31.
