Ten new tollgates in the works

The government has announced the construction of 10 new toll stations on the Egnatia Highway that crosses northern Greece.

According to Finance Minister Euclid Tsakalotos and Infrastructure Minister Christos Spirtzis, four of the stations should be in operation by the end of August while the remaining six will come into use by the November 1.

Management crisis heightens within privatization fund TAIPED

State sell-off fund TAIPED saw its management crisis escalate on Thursday night after one of the three remaining governing board members disagreed with decisions promoted by the other two.

The country's creditors have already been made aware of the problem, which began when TAIPED head Stergios Pitsiorlas's was made deputy economy minister.

Man killed in flood in Corinth, bringing toll to five

Bad weather in parts of the country on Saturday left at least one person dead and widespread damage, following the death last week of four people and the disappearance of another in floods.

A 30-year-old man died early Saturday when the car he had been driving was swept into a swollen stream in the village of Vrysoules near the town of Corinth.

Russia, refugees at focus of Thessaloniki International Book Fair

The 13th Thessaloniki International Book Fair is taking place at the Helexpo exhibition center (154 Egnatia) from May 12 to 15 with two special tributes, the first to Russian literature as part of the Year of Greek-Russian Friendship, and the second to refugee crises past and present.
