Reds beat Bayern as Greens lose to Real Madrid

Olympiakos returned to winning ways in Europe with a win over Bayern Munich on Friday, but Panathinaikos suffered a third loss in succession on Thursday, going down to Euroleague leader Real Madrid.

The Reds defeated their German visitors 77-69 at the Peace and Friendship Stadium on a rather comfortable evening for the Greek champion.

Maccabi Tel Aviv to play EuroLeague home games in Belgrade

BELGRADE - Maccabi Tel Aviv will play their home games in the basketball EuroLeague in Belgrade in the coming period, the EuroLeague has announced.

Israeli clubs have been unable to host international games since the outbreak of the war in Israel and the Gaza Strip.

Maccabi will hold practice sessions at the Mega hall and play their games at the Aleksandar Nikolic Hall.

Helping realize local business dreams

Linda Rottenberg, cofounder and CEO of Endeavor, a non-profit that focuses on boosting entrepreneurship, suffers from the quintessentially American bug of relentless optimism. It is easy to get carried away by her upbeat outlook, to forget the depressing resilience of the Greek crisis and to dare believe that anything is possible.  

Business mentality stuck in the past

New businesses opening up in Greece continue to be focused on catering and entertainment rather than the sectors of manufacturing or technology. According to a report by Endeavor Greece published in Kathimerini on February 2, after eight years of recession, the Greeks that can still invest are putting their money into new cafes, bars and souvlaki joints, while factories are closing.

Business is still on wrong course in Greece

The Greek economy remains in search of a production model that would generate added value and long-term, full-time employment and would not rely exclusively on domestic consumption, as most new enterprises are in the sectors of entertainment and food catering rather than productive fields such as manufacturing or technology.
