Slovenian Wikipedia marking 20th anniversary
Ljubljana – The Slovenian-language edition of Wikipedia, an online encyclopedia, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. It was launched in 2002 as the 16th language variant after the original Wikipedia was launched in 2001, and there are currently 314 language variants.

Wikipedia publishes open letter to Turkey urging end to access ban
Wikipedia is open for improvement by anyone around the world and should be open to editors in Turkey, the Wikimedia Foundation has stated in a letter addressed to the government of Turkey, where the website has been banned for over one year.
Wikipedia is down and out, Jimmy Wales is miserable
A couple of days ago, access from Turkey to the world's biggest and most comprehensive Internet encyclopedia was blocked.
Wikipedia was launched by Jimmy Wales in 2001 aimed at free information-sharing open to everybody. It is a free online encyclopedia, a non-profit that theoretically allows anyone with Internet access to edit articles.
Wikipedia and Turkey
The first time Wikipedia made the news in Turkey was when its founder Jimmy Wales came to Turkey for a keynote speech back in 2008. He was invited by the company Altivi. Almost all media outlets covered his speech because Wikipedia symbolized the start of a new age where information would never again be centralized.

Wikimedia Foundation appeals court ruling blocking Wikipedia in Turkey
The Wikimedia Foundation has appealed a Turkish court decision to block access to the world's largest encyclopedia, Wikipedia, in what is the first official step taken against the ruling that came after an administrative measure on the website.

Monkey selfie sparks copyright row
The Wikimedia Foundation insisted Aug. 7 it would not remove from its website a "selfie" taken by a mischievous monkey, despite claims from the British photographer whose camera was used that it breached his copyright.
