The Turkish Football Federation announced on May 28 that the top-tier Super Lig games will resume on June 12.

The federation said that all preparations were completed after the decision to restart the matches on June 12 was taken "with a joint agreement and request of the federation and 18 Super Lig clubs" to complete the remaining part
of the season.

Turkish Football Federation (TFF) President Nihat Özdemir confirmed on May 20 the date for the resumption of the league will be announced May 28. 

Özdemir said previously the Super Lig would restart June 12 after being suspended in March because of the coronavirus.

The plan to restart the professional football leagues in Turkey on June 12 will be implemented, Turkish Football Federation (TFF) chief Nihat Özdemir has insisted.

A Turkish lower division football club announced late on May 13 that some of its personnel have contracted the novel coronavirus.

Second-tier league club Büyükşehir Belediye Erzurumspor said on Twitter that 11 people, including four players, have tested positive for COVID-19.

Turkey's basketball and volleyball leagues will not return to action this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

"We are ending all our leagues," Turkish Basketball Federation (TBF) President Hidayet Türkoğlu told reporters after a 90-minute board meeting on May 11.

The Turkish Football Federation's (TFF) plans to restart the country's professional football leagues on June 12 have received mixed reactions from clubs and officials.

Professional football leagues in Turkey, which were suspended on March 19 due to the coronavirus pandemic, are scheduled to resume on June 12 behind closed doors, the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) chief announced on May 6.

Turkish football player Kaan Öztürk has died in a traffic accident, his club said on April 21. 

Reserve team player Öztürk, 20, died in a car crash on Monday evening, Eskişehirspor, a lower division club based in central Turkey, announced on social media on April 21. 

Eskişehirspor offered condolences to the family of the Turkish midfielder.

The official broadcaster has informed the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) that it will withhold payments, which will result in at least 30 percent losses in clubs' incomes, an organization that brings together the football clubs in the country's top flight has said.

Two Turkish Süper Lig title contenders met on March 8 as Demir Grup Sivasspor ended reigning champs Galatasaray's eight-game winning streak.  

In an away game in week 25 of the Turkish top-tier football league, Galatasaray drew Demir Grup Sivasspor 2-2 on March 8.
